Stephanie Kay
Personal Stylist
Believe it or not, I haven’t always been interested in fashion or personal style. I was, however, raised by a grandmother who taught me the elegance of wearing pearls and a mother who taught me how to make a $7 outfit look luxe.
I grew up as the shy chunky friend and spent most of elementary and middle school in jeans, a blue t-shirt, and white sneakers. That was my uniform. It didn’t attract attention, and it covered up all the lumps that a pre-teen Steph wasn’t yet comfortable with.
It probably wasn’t until high school that I understood the power of a good outfit. I’ve always been surrounded by southern women in the church who’s main concern, after Jesus of course, was their appearance. I often got compliments on my smile or my looks, but I knew I wasn’t yet dressing the part.
Then shows like How Do I Look?, What Not to Wear, and How to Look Good Naked changed my life. I began to understand how personal presentation could alter the course of my life—how dressing for the life I wanted could get me into the rooms I deserve to be in. And I knew that I needed to share that knowledge and understanding. Thus, Steph the Stylist was born.
And here we are. Lots of trial, error, and shopping later I’ve fully embraced who I am, developed my personal style, and begun to walk confidently through the world. I’d love to aid you in feeling the liberation that comes in owning your style! I hope you’ll let me teach you to dress for the life you want. Chat soon?
